Don’t know how I’d survive winter without seeds. I remember the day I split this black-eyed susan head and set it aside to photograph. That was ages ago.
Today I was looking for something, anything, to photograph. Outside the wind was a-blowin’, the temperature was a-droppin’ and I caught sight of this sweet reminder of spring. I’d like to reshoot the photo with the bottom half of the seed head (the part on the right) in focus. However, the seeds pictured here are now sitting in a bucket, mingling with other seeds, waiting to be packaged up, bought and sown somewhere, to wake up and find their way through the soil to put big yellow petals and dark brown centers on their fuzzy green stems.
Not too long til spring now.
This is what I did all day.
Finally, a post!
sorry.
sorry it has been so long– my new apartment does not have internet yet.
A truly beautiful day. Is it really November?

Remember those very hungry caterpillars months ago? The monarchs that refused to pupate? Well, today, November first, after two months as a chrysalis, after everyone else left for mexico, our friend hatched! What a day!
The feet!
Check out the little face in the hole!
